Welcome to Del Mar

A quiet and serene seaside village

Del Mar was first established in 1885 as a bustling seaside resort, renowned during the golden era of movies as the Hollywood hotspot. People enjoy the warm and welcoming feeling of Del Mar. It is a vibrant beach town in San Diego County with picturesque beaches along the coast of the Pacific Ocean and was incorporated as a city in 1959. Voted number one for the best suburb to raise a family in San Diego County, Del Mar is a friendly and walkable area. It’s widely known as “the place where the surf meets the turf.”

The city is mostly residential with a bustling blend of outdoor shops. The restaurant and shopping options allow residents to have everything they need without driving very far. Del Mar Plaza and the world-renowned Del Mar Thoroughbred Club are close to downtown and provide substantial outdoor activities to keep everyone in the family happy and active.
