Del Mar

Del Mar was first established in 1885 as a bustling seaside resort, renowned during the golden era of movies as the Hollywood hotspot. People enjoy the warm and welcoming feeling of Del Mar. It is a vibrant beach town in San Diego County with picturesque beaches along the coast of the Pacific Ocean and was incorporated as a city in 1959. Voted number one for the best suburb to raise a family in San Diego County, Del Mar is a friendly and walkable area. It’s widely known as “the place where the surf meets the turf.”
 
The city is mostly residential with a bustling blend of outdoor shops. The restaurant and shopping options allow residents to have everything they need without driving very far. Del Mar Plaza and the world-renowned Del Mar Thoroughbred Club are close to downtown and provide substantial outdoor activities to keep everyone in the family happy and active.

THINGS TO DO

Del Mar has a calendar full of fun events every year. The Del Mar Foundation puts on the Summer Solstice every year, bringing in tastes from local restaurants, California wineries, live music, and much more. They welcome our four-legged friends by holding the Del Mar Dog Surfing Contest and the Halloween Pet Parade every year. If that is not enough, the Del Mar Fair is sure to bring in rides, fun, and excitement every year.
 
The Del Mar Farmers Market is an option every Saturday, bringing in lots of fresh foods and eats. 
 
Del Mar is most famous for the Del Mar Thoroughbred horse racing track which hosts major racing events with stadium seating and trackside dining.
